Back to black for Blues... City remember their roots with new two-tone away strip

Manchester City have revealed their new away kit for the 2013/14 season, with a sleek design that pays tribute to some of the club's earliest strips.
The 2012 Premier League champions will play in their first ever Nike away kit, and have opted for a black and dark charcoal two-tone style.
The shirt’s 'half-and-half' design is a nod to Ardwick AFC. City were formed as St Mark's in 1880, before becoming Gorton AFC in 1884 and, in 1887, they became Ardwick AFC.

Ardwick played in a two-tone strip in the 1890-91 season, and the Blues have given the design a modern spin, with the Nike logo and Etihad lettering emblazoned on the strip in gold - 'to represent the club’s recent success in modern times,' City's official website says.
The reason the club have chosen black is because Gorton players played in a austere black kit, the first ever recorded City kit.
Continuing the theme, City’s shorts are also black and the socks are black with a charcoal trim.
The shirt features a grandfather collar, a long placket and a stand at the back.

In the photoshoot for the kit, new signing Fernandinho joins Matija Nastasic, James Milner, club captain Vincent Kompany, Pablo Zabaleta and Joleon Lescott.
The goalkeeper’s strip, modelled by England No 1 Joe Hart, is two hues of yellow, with black trim. The sleeves and shorts are a deeper shade, while the section covering the torso is a more washed-out yellow.
